The Keurbooms River
The beauty of the Keurbooms River makes for an unforgettable adventure through the twists and bends of this steep-sided gorge. The river, which runs for approximately 5.5 km from the N2 bridge to the barrier near the upper reaches at Whiskey Creek, is characterised by its dark water, a result of tannins released from the indigenous vegetation on the banks. In the shallows, this water looks distinctly like a fine scotch, giving the area of Whiskey Creek its name.
A series of sandy beaches dotted along the river course are perfect for a picnic and swim, a number of these beaches have braai facilities (bring your own charcoal and grid).
Three of the beaches are also equipped toilets.
